Mina Hasan Lawn- Eid Collection 2016 reviewed

Mina Hasan wowed us last year with their brilliant chiffon collection. This year was pretty much  breakeven situation with the chiffon range as some were breathtaking and others a bit flat.
Their lawn earlier this year came with unusual color contrasts and basic embroidery. This time round though, they have decided to blitz up all deficits and come out all guns blazing with a super colorful, super embroidered lawn collection.

Here are a few suits unboxed for you with my review of the catalogue at the end.

Overall opinion of Mina Hasan Eid Lawn 2016
the pros
- It's colorful! You can certainly not back out of this one saying your kind of colors are not in there.
- There's more and more and still more embroidery. This one's going all out on dressy. And its beautiful!

the cons
- The biggest negative i would say is a lack of clarity with the description. Neither on their website nor on the cover of their dress does it tell you the fabric used for dupatta. All it says is 'dupatta- 2.5m'. I find it absurd that this is so trivial a detail for a person willing to shell out a fair bit of money.
- The suits do look somewhat different in terms of shade from the image shown. It's great photography, I'm just not sure adequate lighting to convey the correct color. Colors of embroidery though, are spot on!

Firdous Korean Exclusive (Eid Edition) 2016 reviewed

In case you were thinking my blog reviews only high end stuff, this one here is the page breaker.
Firdous Korean Exclusive collection gave us some beautiful prints in gorgeous colors this season.

Here you can take a close look at all the suits just in case you were eyeing any one in particular as a casual wear outfit or a present.

I highly recommend the one in the pic above! Louuvve it!

Overall opinion about the catalogue
Firdous Korean gives us a break from the usual color combinations. It combines small prints on kameez with bold contrasting color n pattern on the dupatta. The embroidery is basic and minimal and it keeps the look very dainty.

Fabric described by the company is of the 'highest quality'. The quality is pretty good and at face value does not differ very much from the Pakistani lawn. Of course just as proof of pudding is in the eating, the real test is when wearing it in sultry summers.
Also the dupatta is described as 'cotton net'. I'm not really sure what that means.

What I do understand is, the price is pretty killer and definitely value for money based on the look of it.

Sana Safinaz Luxury Formal Wear 2016 reviewed

To have this luxury collection from Sana Safinaz come to India, it really was unbelievable at the start.   Thus far the Indian market has only seen the gorgeous embroidery dresses on Pakistani designer Facebook pages with hush hush notes at the bottom saying- message us for more details. And should you message them, you get a response of- Hello Dear! It's 25,000/- only.
Never mind it's Pakistani currency.

So yes, this was a clear winner for us.

Here are a few pieces unboxed for you.

Overall opinion of the catalogue
It was awesome!
And the price didn't send a splinter through your heart!
The look very modern, the designs fairly ethnic and the colors heart stealing.
Yeah, I loved it all the way. Even the not so good designs were pretty decent.

Sana Safinaz Muzlin Vol 2 reviewed

After the raging success of Volume 1, Sana Safinaz was bound to head for a Volume 2.
The name 'Muzlin' had me thinking for the longest time that it wasn't lawn but rather muslin. Apparently that's not the case.

Here are a few open pieces from the 2 piece collection

Overall review of Sana Safina Muzlin 2 catalogue

The prints this season had nothing unusual to offer except bending more to an oriental theme. They tried to bring in embroidery on organza with panels of plain organza etc. It did succeed in a way for portraying an old idea in a more contemporary look so anybody in any age group can wear it. A great plus.

Another plus was keeping it a 2 piece collection. Almost everybody by now owns their own favorite version of a pretty white palazzo.
Price-wise it borders mildly on the higher side.

Sana Safinaz Muzlin Vol 2 is priced at INR 3300/- plus shipping.

Firdous Excellencia Festive Collection 2016 reviewed

The Firdous Excellencia Collection definitely brought some memorable pieces this year. Of the collection, I have reviewed the top best selling suit. The picture of it definitely had everybody going gaga for it.

The kameez has a complete embroidered front with beige thread work over the body of it and pink flowers to go with it. The embroidery was plenty but it lacked the finesse element with a few threads in the embroidery coming loose. This one needs a good tailor!

Other embroidered embellishments. A mild golden patti for the neck and an elaborate thread work piece for the daaman.

Printed sleeves
Printed back. The design is pretty pleasing to the eye.

Plain beige shalwar

Beautiful printed silk dupatta. The feel of this silk is awesome and the minute you touch you can sigh, yes, finally!
That's the entire dress unboxed for you.

Here's a look at some other suits from the same Excellencia collection.

Overall summary of Firdous Excellencia collection

The pros
- It does deliver in terms of detailed embroidery. You have enough and plenty of it so you don't feel ripped off with the price in any way.

The cons
- A few designs were great, but more than the good ones were the gaudy golden work ones. I do not know much about Pakistani taste, but for the Indian population i think it was a big screaming sign to steer clear of it.
- Like I mentioned before, the embroidery lacks finesse with threads pulled in between.

All in all, if you can get your hands on a hit piece, its a good buy.
